From the Band:

In early 2005, we started our third recording project. Unlike the first two,
we opted to take our time, write and record our music in a relaxed fashion,
thus three years in the making. The tunes we chose for this CD were drawn
from a cache of material written years ago, written since completing our
second CD, and also created during the final recording stages of this project.
Across the miles and over years in our lives, we’ve experienced many
seasons, with many people, in many places. To bring back a part of the past,
we asked two of the original members of the band to return for guest
appearances. Jeff Forbes on fiddle, and Doug Porter on lead guitar,
enthusiastically agreed to answer the call. In looking ahead, we asked Duke’s
son Austin James (AJ) to contribute as a new generation of musician and
songwriter. Thank you Jeff, Doug and AJ for the time and efforts spent on our
behalf. Their contributions and talents are exceptional, and as Jeff said on
our second CD, added the icing on our third “cake”. In hindsight, the theme
of the album, “Miles and Miles” turned out well by asking Jeff and Doug to
contribute, completing this effort at the ten year point of Higher Ground. We
captured a little bit of everything along our travels through a decade. Will
the journey continue? We’ll see… Our special thanks to those that make us
sound the way we do – to Sid Fendley for his superb ear and mixing skills; to
David Glasser for his mastering aplomb; and to Mike Flynn, who has graciously
given our first two CD’s airtime on his syndicated radio show, “The Folk
Sampler”. As always, we send our love and sincere thanks to our families,
friends, fans and listeners who have supported our music. We trust you will
enjoy our third collection of songs, based upon the seasons of our lives and
loves, across the miles and miles we have traveled, and genuinely from our
hearts. Take care.
